Renew Your License

To keep an active license, all licensees are required to renew their license every 2 years. The license expiration date is printed on your license or can be found on your LIBOR Profile page.

All license renewals must be done online, through the New York State Department of State, (DOS),  and can be done up to 3 months before expiration. The DOS will no longer accept applications by mail or phone. Log-in to eAccessNY to access your account and renew your license.


Continuing Education Required Topics and Hours

In order to RENEW your real estate license, every 2 years, all licensees must complete 22.5 hours of approved NYS continuing education;  11.5 hours of REQUIRED topics and 11 hours of ELECTIVE topics:

REQUIRED NYS Real Estate license topics are:

  • 3 hours of fair housing education
  • 1 hour of agency education (2 hours if in 1st license cycle)
  • 2.5 hours of ethical business practices
  • 1 hour of recent legal matters
  • 2 hours of Implicit Bias education
  • 2 hours of Cultural Competency education
  • NOTE:   The remaining 11 hours may be taken in any elective NYS approved CE courses of your choosing.

REMINDER:

As of July 1, 2021, all exemptions from continuing education have CEASED.  All licensed salespersons, licensed brokers and licensed broker associates must now complete the 22.5 hours of CE requirements above.
